Testimonials

David Cheng was selected to support the search for the President of the Foundation. We selected David because he had a long list of impressive placements, but that they were truly ready to help us drive the process. David Hinsley Cheng and his team did a fantastic job at presenting all very high quality candidates to the search committee. He then worked closely with the Committee to help us reach a decision. I will point out too that David represented the Foundation at a high level and engaged all candidates in a highly professional manner. I know I speak for the committee when I say that our experience with David matched the expectation we had when we selected him to represent the Foundation. I would engage him again to handle our executive searches.

Having worked at New York University in a fundraising capacity over the past 20 years, I have had the professional pleasure of working with several executive search firms. Most recently, as Senior Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations (covering 16 colleges and schools with the University), I have worked specifically with David Cheng – one of our very own alumnus – and I am amazed and satisfied with their ability to listen and understand the needs of their clients. They truly understand the breadth and depth of our educational and fundraising mission and, as a result, have surfaced many wonderful employee candidates for us. David always thinks “outside the box” and delivers professional talent from many diverse sources. These candidates have become viable, senior members of our department’s team. I strongly endorse him as our executive search vendor of choice.

I have worked with David [Cheng} in the search for executives for the Simon Youth Foundation over the course of ten years. During that time, David has continually grown to know our needs as an organization, and has been a great partner in finding the right candidate for each period of time in our organization’s life cycle.

Our goal of the Executive Search team was to find a new Kennedy Center CEO who shared the agency’s commitment and vision of empowerment for individuals with disabilities as well as build upon the successes that the current CEO, leadership team and entire staff have achieved. After interviewing several executive search firms our team selected David Cheng to conduct our search for the new CEO. David was selected due to his extensive experience conducting non-profit executive searches and for his recent history of success with placing CEOs for organizations serving people with Intellectual Disabilities. He had also sourced CEOs to replace other long tenured CEOs providing any necessary transition services and executive coaching. David was very professional, energetic and well organized and provided consulting that extended beyond finding the best qualified candidate for our agency. Our executive search team was very pleased with the services provided by David’s leadership and most importantly the successful outcome of finding the most qualified candidate to fill the CEO position.

Our President-Foundation search was of critical importance to the hospital and our broader community constituents. David Cheng and the team did a great job of understanding our needs, sourcing numerous viable candidates that were previously unknown to us and delivering candidates who had true interest in the position, and interviewed very well. Ultimately, the search was very successful and we were able to attract and hire a candidate who met our aspirations — something that would not have happened without David’s great work.

In 2014, after serving as Executive Director for 27 years, our ED announced his retirement. It was hard (scary) to imagine Benhaven without him at the helm. As a result there was more than a little angst surrounding the search. The search committee intended to interview three firms each of which specialized in the non-profit sector. After interviewing David Cheng we cancelled the third interview. From the beginning David Cheng displayed a calm confidence that itself was of help to the committee. We felt we were in good hands and we were. That is not to say that we turned the process over to David and expected him to do all the hard work. It was a collaborative effort between David and the search committee. But David did provide a structure and a process for the search. The bottom line is that we are extremely pleased with our new ED. The anxiety we felt at the beginning of the process has been replaced by confidence in our new ED.
